SWIM Quarterly Update, January 2026
SWIM has entered its final phase. This quarter saw the integration of all system components and the transition from module development to end-to-end platform validation.
System integration (WP4)
Led by e.Ray, the integration of all SWIM components across five layers is progressing:
1. Data Ingestion (EO + WAMO + auxiliary sources)
2. WOLF Calibration and Quality Assurance
3. Module Processing (Water Quality, Water Balance, Natural Disaster)
4. Backend API and Data Services
5. User Interface and Dashboard
The frontend, built with TypeScript, MapLibre GL, and Three.js, now provides role-based views serving field operators, water quality analysts, plant managers, and academic researchers.
AI chatbot operational (WP3)
The SWIM LLM-based chatbot is now operational, providing conversational access to the underlying data and models. Users can query water quality data, request statistical analyses, and receive anomaly alerts through natural-language interaction in Spanish, German, and English.
IPR protection (WP1)
The IPR assessment (D1.3) has been completed, identifying background IP from consortium partners and foreground IP generated during the project. A priority patent filing has been made for the WOLF calibration engine's dynamic water-quality calibration logic.
Exploitation planning (WP5)
Work on the Business Innovation Plan (D5.4) and the future evolution roadmap (D5.5) is underway, defining the pathway from TRL4 to operational deployment and identifying six key exploitable results, revenue models, and funding opportunities.
Looking ahead
The final quarter will focus on integration testing, the end-user requirement confirmation report, final system validation, and preparation of all remaining deliverables. The consortium is targeting full TRL4 validation by project end in April 2026.
