SWIM Quarterly Update, Q2 2025: Laying the Foundation
SWIM Quarterly Update, April 2025
The SWIM project entered its sixth month in April 2025, and the consortium is happy to share a summary of progress across the project’s five work packages.
Project management and coordination (WP1)
The project management framework is fully operational. OSM, as project coordinator, has conducted regular consortium meetings and established clear reporting workflows. The Data Management Plan (D1.2) has been finalised and submitted, covering all five data categories managed by the project in accordance with FAIR principles and Horizon Europe guidelines. Risk assessment and mitigation measures (D1.1) have been documented.
Module development (WP2)
The EO data ingestion pipeline (D2.1) has been delivered, establishing the automated multi-source pipeline that acquires and harmonises Copernicus Sentinel-1/2/3 data alongside in-situ measurements. Study sites have been confirmed at La Fe Reservoir and Las Palmas Basin in Colombia. Detailed specifications for all three SWIM modules (Water Quality, Water Balance, Natural Disaster) have been defined with input from all partners.
Stakeholder engagement (WP4)
Consortium partner Fundacion Con Vida (FCV) has been leading participatory engagement with end users in Colombia. Initial contact and discussions with Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM), the Municipality of Envigado, and the University of Envigado are progressing toward formal collaboration agreements.
Dissemination and communication (WP5)
The SWIM website (theswimapp.com) was launched in the project’s early months, establishing the project’s digital presence. Brand identity, including the SWIM logo, visual guidelines, and document templates, has been finalised. Social media channels have been set up.
Looking ahead
In the coming quarter, the consortium will focus on developing the three core modules, progressing the WOLF calibration engine, and advancing stakeholder engagement toward formal Memoranda of Understanding with Colombian partners.
